    PMC vs Federal .223

Hey everyone, I wanted to know which is the better brand for target shooting? PMC Bronze or Federal .223 . I've been buying a lot of ammo from my local gun dealer "Rivercity Gun Exchange" . They got the PMC Bronze and AE (don't like) for 5.99 a box of 20. I was at wal mart and saw that they had the federal 100 ct for 40 not including tax. Am I getting the better deal at Rivercity because they're 6 a box and with tax I pay about 33 dollars.

PMC Bronze is fine. Gone through several hundred rounds without any problems and they are fairly accurate. No problems with the Federal stuff either though.

The PMC bronze has been flawless. I'll just keep buying those since they're way cheaper than the Wal-Mart federal 100ct. what do you recommend for hunting ammo. Can't seem to find any 5.56.

I used to buy both PMC Bronze and the Federal Value Pack and got 1" groups at 100 yards using a 3-9x40 scope on a 20" AR. I chrony-ed them and both were within a few fps of 3000 fps. I based my handloads off of these because they were as accurate as I need. 55g fmjbt over 25g H335 duplicates it in speed and accuracy. The only difference between those and my reloads is that mine are $0.19 each. Not much of a difference, but a lot of fun getting there .

I have also worked up the same loads using soft point bullets which you can't get at a reasonable price.

Bottom line, PMC Bronze is good stuff for plinking and casual target shooting. Have fun.

pmc is better brass, I don't even bother to pickup FC brass anymore because it's usually out of spec (too short) after resizing, which leads to uneven crimping when reloading. That and FC brass has crimped primers which is also a ***** for reloading.

Yeppers. PMC is good brass. I use the FC brass as once or twice loads then toss to the brass scrap bucket for recycling.

PMC is good. I shoot the Fed but I don't go out of my way to get it.

Some wal-marts have stared to carry federal ar223. It comes in a black 20 round box and they go for $5.97 for a box of 20. They loil exactly like the federal tactical 223, just different labeling on the package. They're a better deal than the $40/100 round federal "value packs"

But of you're getting pmc bronze for $6 a box, I'd stick to it. I've shot all 3 types of ammo and the pmc has been flawless for almost 1000 rounds out of my stag 2t. The federal bulk pack on the other hand seemed a little bit underpowered and led to a few fte's. There's also a few deal on the pmc bronze too like 1000 rounds for like 285 shipped.
