I shoot 200gr lswc for the price and the accuracy. My source has dried up but I will probably try these next :http://www.carrollsweb.com/gunshop/h...t_bullets.html

now, for ME, target means anything that isn't hunting. Furthermore, since I always seem to miss 200 yard Sunday, 99.99 percent of all my target fun has been at 100 yards. Meaning my loading isn't match grade. That understanding in place, my typical target loads have transitioned from jacketed to gas checked lead. Because it's cheaper.
If I ever want to get out to 200 or 300 yards or so, I'll switch back to jacketed for rifle, Sierra makes a bullet I've used and love. For handgun I don't know. Probably barnes bullets because I need the most tack driving tack driver I need for handgun to even get a fighting chance of hitting paper at 200 and my barnes hunting loads are my best. And I wouldn't be shooting a ton of them anyways.
So, I suppose the jackass answer to your question is "yes." with technical answer being "it depends on the application, with most apps allowing lead cast for cost effectiveness."Comment

My rifles like the Sierra match bullets which are all jacketed.
Handgun wise, all Berrys or Rainer plated flat points. My Beretta on the other hand really likes the Honardy XTPs for a accurate round.
But that is subjective. It does not have to be a "target grade' bullet in order to get a accurate round. It just depend of your particular gun likes or dislikes a particular load.Comment

If I was wealthy, I'd go with JHP for target loads because the gun is easier to clean. The accuracy matches or beats lead.
Plated is for plinking. Plated loads are inaccurate when compared to the kind of accuracy you can get from lead or jacketed loads. In my testing, plated bullets increase group size 100% over the other two.Comment
