Bad brass?

Looking for some opinions on this one - I know, for me, anyway, I do not plan to load the 38 spl brass that looks like the picture below.

What causes these spots and in some cases a rust or other corrosion?

Just got these from a CalGunner, unpolished. No big deal, just that a good percentage of these are like the picture shown

I have a ton of cases like that, i load them anyway. After a while they end up splitting but its no big deal.



Made it a point to take this picture a couple weeks ago at the range. I get several cracked cases everytime i shoot

tumbler will take alot of it away, but if you want it gone.

1st step green scotch brite pad 2nd step 0000 steel wool, just chuck the brass in a drill gently so you dont crush it, and it will take the spots off. then put them in the tumbler

I get a few that look like that. No problem.

Yep I have had brass stained just like that. I believe it's usually caused by brass laying on wet vegetation for some time like grass or leaves. Like mentioned before, a little elbow grease and some fine steel wool will take it off. I personally don't like running them through my sizing dies like that.

it dont take long to clean them like i do, if they have bad stains or real bad tarnish as the vibratory tumbler dont get them to clean, but now i have the Thumbler Rotary tumbler with SS media and the stains/tarnish comes out 100 times better.

I've loaded some 50BMG brass that looked like that. So, I'd have zero issues loading a few grains of powder in a little 38 case.

I load brass like that. It goes bang just fine. As for the cause I am clueless. More important things to worry about.
