300 Lapua?

Hi gang,

In talking to an old friend, her husband asked 'if I knew anything about .308 Lapua'. I told him then (2 years ago) that I had not heard of .308 Lapua, only .338. So now, of course, I hear about .308 Lapua and how great a .30 caliber it is. Does anybody know about this round? What are the rough specifications of it?

i have heard of .300 lapua mag, and also I have read that a lapua sponsored shooter was spotted with a gun that was firing a modified .308 cased bullet that is under testing by lapua. but currently i dont think it exists yet to the public.

It's a necked-down .338LM designed to shoot a .30cal bullet around 3500fps. It's pretty much a barrel burning vaporware concept.

Not to mention a sure-fire trip to the chiropractor. 3,500 fps, eh? I bet the barrel guys LOVE to hear about things like that. Buy 'em in sets of three and change them yourself if you're on an all-day shoot.
