scrap brass price ?

I have been saving brass for years and have about a 5 gallon bucket of old brass that isnt reloadable anymore , is there any price difference as to weather or not it is deprimed ?
Who has the best price in so cal ?

I heard some places won't take ammo brass. Primers are made of brass so I don't know why it would matter.

Never had issue in Oakland or Pleasant Hill. In Oakland, they'll hold a magnet in their hand & fish around a bit.

I have had 5 different recyclers around Sacramento tell me that they cannot take brass because the Federal goverment will not let them as long as we are involved in combat operations. Now for all the people who are going to Post that I am full of crap and that the recyclers can't do that, I am just telling you what I was told. I had no urge to stand around and argue with some smelly dude at a smelly recycling yard about the legallity of recycling brass.

I have ran across this same situation before. Most will take it as long as it is deprimed and hit with a hammer to partially smash it. Although smaller places will take it, sometimes no matter how it is.

I thought it was about $2.00 a pound a while ago. I thought I saw a range selling range brass at $3.00 a pound.

Palmdale recycling had an add on the radio and claimed to accept spent brass so I called and the dude said he would pay $1.50 p/pound.

As of this summer, commercial recyclers were paying about $1.90/lb. An ammo company such as Brassman was about $2.25/lb.

This is about right. It runs about 1.80 - 2.00 per pound

Giant auto recyclers in Santa Clarita takes it as long as there is no steel or loaded rounds. They pay whatever market is that day. I take a bucket about once a year and I'll be going this Thursday.
