    Double Tap Ammo

I just read an article about this manufacturer in G&A magazine. I checked out their pistol ammo and it is advertised as pretty hot stuff. Does anyone have experience with this brand? I was looking at their .357 125 bonded HP. It's hard to beat 1600 fps and 710 ft. lbs of muzzle energy.

I have shot and chrono'd some of their 10mm ammo. That was the last time I ever bought ammo from McNett.

They advertise that the 200gr WFNGC gets 1300fps from a 4.6" Barrel. This should be around 1400-1450fps from my 6" barrel. I chrono tested these rounds, along with several other calibers (factory and reloads), on a couple separate range trips. The actual velocity of their 200gr WFNGC in my 6" barrel was 1215fps. Putting barrel length into consideration, they are over 200fps slower than advertised.

They also started loading Montana Gold's instead of XTP's in their "Controlled Expansion" loads. Even worse, they didn't tell their customers, and the price actually went up. The MG bullet is great for competition, but absolutely sucks for defense purposes.

I'm not the only one that has had these results with DT's ammo, I can't say I have come across one single happy customer as far as 10mm ammo goes. I'd be willing to bet that 10mm isn't the only caliber that is slower than advertised.

If you're looking for some hot stuff, look at Buffalo Bore. They don't lie about their ballistics...
