    30/06 case

When i was at a range i picked up some 30/06 cases and found a few with a ring about 1/2" from the bottem, what rifle would use these? or what caused the ring. now the far right one the primer is a little bit out as i can catch my finger nail on it. the far left one has a very slight ring but is not deep at all, there all the same brand cases. i will not be reloading these.

those look like to be golden bear ammunition. check with a magnet...but i would bet those are magnetic.

Thats a stretch mark...excessive head space. I would be willing to bet!

holly smokes!, I never seen any stretched that bad. I think excessive headspace would be an understatement.

that is a negative. the case DID NOT stretch. that ammunition looks like that before you fire it. why it is done i do not know.

I have no idea what caused that. if you look at the first one in the pic it has no deep ring just a scuff of a ring part way around it, un like the other two they have a deep ring.

first case, od of case .467 no ring just a scuff, case length 2.495

second case, od of case .469 ring od .451, case length 2.473

3rd case, od of case .467 at ring od .458, case length 4.81

It looks like Golden Bear. The case comes that way from the factory.

I had some zinc-plated steel-cased Silver Bear '06 that had the exact same feature. I would have reloaded it if it was Boxer primed... Is the Golden Bear Boxer primed?

I have the same ammo with the weird ring near the base. It shoots fine, but i have no idea why it is there. Mine is steel cased, maybe the ring is there so you know its not brass???
