I've been looking into chronographs in the $100 dollar range and I like the Shooting Chrony Beta Master and the PACT Model 1 XP Chronograph but the shooting chrony seems to be a better deal. Can someone help me make up my mind? http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpag...265&t=11082005 http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpag...882&t=11082005

I have a Chrony F1. It's always worked well for me. Sometimes I wish I had the remote read out like the Beta Master, but it's a luxury, not a necessity. A pen and note book work just as well, and I always have the notebook to refer back to.Rob Thomas - Match Director NCPPRC Tactical Long Range Match

Having used both... I'd take a Pact over a Chrony any day. The Pact is more reliable, returns less "questionable" out-of-family numbers, etc.
That being said get an Oehler if money (and space, and setup time) is no object. Probably a little extreme for most people though.Last edited by Kiba; 10-19-2007, 8:50 PM.Comment

The Oehler 35P is considered the best consumer chronograph. Unfortunately, Oehler no longer makes it. They will continue to provide support and repair on the Oehler chronographs, but you'll have to buy them second hand (or get lucky and find a new one still leftover in a vendor's warehouse).

They do provide excellent service. I just sold mine after Oehler rebuilt my unit and fixed everything that was wrong with it. It looked so good when I got it back that I really had a hard time parting with it.The Oehler 35P is considered the best consumer chronograph. Unfortunately, Oehler no longer makes it.
