I use surplus powder all the time. I have set loads that have worked for years. I ordered WCC 846 Powder to keep my stash at 60 lbs.
What I received was at least one jug of WCC 844. There's a big difference in those two ball powders. The problem was the 844 was in a 846 marked jug
. My rounds and the rifle have been malfunctioning for months. Once I realized all the AR's I have were doing the same thing I knew I had to look elsewhere for the problem. It was determined on this sight that my load was to hot so I started reducing same. When I got down to the max load for 844 all my problems went away
. Mean while this error has cost me tons of money and time. I learned a valuable lesson here. When ever I break open a new jug I'm going to test it
