I made a powder baffle for my measure using a plastic Easter egg!

Just for kicks I decided that I wanted to put a powder baffle in my RCBS powder measure.

The kids have dozens of those little plastic easter eggs (the ones that come in two parts so you can put goodies in them!). And i found that taking the big end of an egg and drilling a few holes in it made a nice little powder baffle!

And yes, you can make a baffle from just dropping in a funnel or a fender washer!

And before anyone asks, the purpose of a powder baffle is basically something you put in the bottom of the powder measure that supports the weight of the bulk of the powder above it, but lets powder flow through it so that when you work the handle of the measure, you get more consistent throws, since the weight of the powder isn't always changing as your powder gets used up. And yes, that was a massive run-on sentance

No one can visualize half of a plastic egg in the hopper of a powder measure? Sad.

I think we get the concept of an egg in the hopper. I am just curious how he drilled it. Big holes, little holes, holes on top, holes on the bottom edge, one medium sized one in the center top..... I can visualize a lot of things and combinations. It would be nice to see pics.

Plus, I think it is expected that when you come on here and say you made something cool and don't provide pics, you will get some grief.

silly question but, isn't the plastic hopper made out of some special static resistant plastic to prevent discharge (and large fireball)? I just remember how much static those eggs can produce.

I'm still figuring out why a powder measure needs a baffle. My powder measure seems to, hmmmm, measure powder pretty well and I haven't done anything to it.

Maybe I'll have a kid so there'll be plastic easter eggs around so when I need a powder measure baffle, voila!

Don't bother, it didn't happen and I can't be convinced otherwise until I see pics
