    Looking to Buy Reloading Gear

    Hello everyone.

Given the economic and political climate these days, I've decided to renew and old hobby of mine... reloading.

I've got a 12 gauge, a .40 cal, and a .380 on the way. And I'd like to start reloading my ammo for them.

I'm a disabled Vet, and don't have a bunch of greenbacks to work with; so if anyone has some used gear they'd like to get rid of reasonably cheap; please do contact me.

Seems a progressive reloader is a bit beyond my means and needs, so I'd like to find a good 4-hole turret system. Will need a good work bench also.

Given my limitations, I think I'd like to take up gun-smithing; so any offerings along those lines would also be appreciated. I know many of you are way more saavy than me in these areas, so I'd greatly appreciate any tips and cautions you have.

    Thanks Guys.

You'll be successful if you are patient and have cash in hand to pounce on a good deal when you see one and not put a time limit on your purchase. Keep your eyes open for a Lee Classic Cast turret press. They are built to last several lifetimes and most owners will not part with theirs. They do show up once in a while especially if someone has a single stage press and a turret and decides to go progressive.

Your next choice should be the Lee Deluxe 4 hole turret press. It is cast aluminum and not cast iron like the Classic Turret, but it is still well built and would probably cost less.

As a new reloader, I would not recommend picking up a used Pro1000 or Loadmaster simply because you will probably spend your initial time tuning it up for flawless operation rather than actual loading and that's what you want to do. If you are a tinkerer and mechanically inclined and got one of those for free, then go for it.

Shotshell reloading is a completely different animal with a different press, different components and different loading steps. About the only thing common might be a shotgun powder that can be used for pistol loads (most shotgun powders are also used for pistols). Look for a Lee Loader or Mec 600 Jr for well under $100 (closer to $50) and you can get into 12 ga reloading pretty cheaply. Walmart is selling 12 ga Federal 1oz #8 2-3/4 shells for $4.77 a box. It would be pretty tough to beat for the casual shooter.

That's my advice. If your post was a solicitation, it might bet better responses in the Want to Buy section of the "Marketplace" area.

    Good luck.

Try to find a used dillon 550. The press is warrantied for life.

Reloading isnt cheap. If you are short on cash might as well buy Wolf ammo and call it a day. Cost about the same.

If you have reloaded in the past, you now the basics.

A Lee Classic Cast Turret is a fine option.

This guy has the best prices on new Lee gear:

Crummy web site, but he has delivered on everything I have ordered, as long as I was patient enough to find it on his site.

I think it is hard to beat Walmart for loaded shotgun shells.
