    A cheap 9mm reloading setup?

For the last couple days I've been reading about reloading and decided I want to start asap. I've been looking at lee presses in particular, but I'd like to know as far as a press and dies go what the cheapest, but quality complete combination I could go with? I don't really have a price limit, but I don't mind spending the money if I have to. I don't need something that'll spit out 100 rounds a minute (although it would be nice, but not necessary for me) just something that gives me the end product of reloaded bullets. To simplify further ,whats everything one you reloading gurus would recommend I buy to reload 9mm.

So far I have everything you would as far as bullet components go (powder, brass, primers)

you could start with the lee loader. you could get the setup for like $20 and yes they do work and make reliable ammo. It just is a slow process, but its good learning...

Just an FYI, even if you buy in bulk you will load 9mm for $120-150 per 1000. Gun show reloads go for $160-$180 per 1000. Unless you want better quality ammo reloading only 9mm doesn't make sense.

I can load 9MM for about $100-$110 per 1000, when I find bullets on sale. Don't forget to add the cost of parking and admission at the gunshow, so another $20, at least here in Sacramento.

        Precision Delta 9MM 115FMJ = $.076 ea
Wolf SP Primer = $.02 ea
        4.5gr of Bullseye = $.008 ea
        = $.104 ea

Good point, but quality is what I looking for and 9mm is really all I shoot. Most reloads I've bought from local ranges and out of town have all been underpowered or dirt or both most the time.

$20 complete with dies? I've only seen their hand press for around that much.

Get the lee anniversary kit for $89.99, it has everything you need except dies, book, and components. Get the cheapest lee dies you can find, they should be around $15 online.

This is what I'd advise also. For $90, it can't be beat. I would spend a little more on a better scale, the one comes with it is junk, and good scale is crucial.

But if money is really not a concern, then just buy a Dillon and be done with it.

I would go with this one:
                  http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm...dTitle=Hornady Lock-n-Load Classic Kit

Yes, it's $300, but it comes with a far better scale, a much better powder loader and 500 free bullets! The bullets are worth $100 and you'll have a much nicer setup.

And yeah, what he said "If....really not a concern, then just buy a Dillon and be done with it."

I started with the Lee Deluxe turret kit for 105 dollars plus dies for 9mm and have never regretted it.

The scale works well, but is hard to read, and MUST be very level to work correctly.

For 150 dollars I got everything I needed to get started. The only thing I added later was a tumbler after I got more brass to clean than I wanted to do by hand.

Congrats. You're going to have a blast rolling your own. It's a hobby within itself.

What reloading books/manuals have you read/have?
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

The kits are about $30.00 after tax or shipping brand new. You will need a scale unless you use the powder that the included powder chart recommends with the correct bullet weight. I started with the Lee classic loader on both 45acp and 9mm and really enjoyed learning the process. You also make very good quality ammo. I now use a Lee classic turret press and could not be happier. I still use my Lee classic loader for load development and then once I find a sweet load I replicate the load on my turret press.

I load 9mm with X-treme plated bullets and pay $5.00 a box for extremely accurate, mild loads.

Im gonna catch alot of heat for this, but you dont really need a manual. Between handloads.com and Xdrox/Whiterabbit thats all the info ive ever needed.
