5.56/.223 walmart

Hey guys just went to Walmart the other day and found a good deal on some 5.56/.223 ammo. American eagle fmj 20 rounds for $5 and some change. I bought some winchester hollow points because my local range won't allow fmj :-(

Good price, but interesting info on your range not allowing FMJ, but allows hollow points? Isn't it usually the opposite?

My range is san leandro rifle club. It' RIGHT next to Oakland airport. So on the outdoor 100 yard range only soft point or hollow point allowed.

Thanks for the heads up. Anyone know if that ammo is good for reloading? Any crimp to deal with?

I saw some there about an hour ago at the Westminster store. I have plenty but a good deal none the less.

If the brass is marked FC, you have to deal with crimps and cases that are too short from the factory. It's the worst brass I have come across so far for 223. I measure them all after I size them about about 1/3rd of them are still longer than the minum trim length so I load those back up after removing the crimps and toss the rest into another bin labeled (too short). Just a lot of wasted work cleaning and sizing all that FC brass.

No idea about reloading (man I wish I did) seems fun, I wish I new someone who could teach me, Me and following directions about something that could blow my hand off if loaded incorrectly scares me.

The American Eagle FMJ 5.56/.223 ammo that the OP is talking about does have the military crimp on it (FC marked) so anyone interested in reloading these cases would have to either swage or ream out the military crimp on the case. Good ammo for the price though!
