FMJ for JHP

So there was a debate between me and some friends... We decided to let calguns decide the winners.

Can you interchange FMJ and JHP load data if the bullet weight is the same and you start with the min load and work up?

So for example could you use 9mm data meant for a 115FMJ and use it for a 115JHP

Yes, but the OAL will be different. For the most part, bullets of the same weight and material will react in the same manner. Of course there are exceptions, but to do what you are purposing (starting load and working up) is perfectly safe.

The Sierra book lists the same charge weight for all bullets in their line of the same weight. as long as seating depth is correct, its no problem in a target application.
