    The reason I didn't say you ought to go progressive is your cartridge selection.

    With most straight walled pistol rounds, I simply clean the brass and start loading them into the LnL AP. With 30-30 and .308, they usually require brass preparation which means after cleaning, check for headspace if needed and resize/deprime, check for case length and trim if needed, then you are ready to prime, charge and seat. By priming batches of cases and having them ready for charging, you can charge and seat in one step and never need to change dies and you certainly don't need a progressive for that operation.

    You might gain an advantage with a progressive for the .44 if you shoot a lot (hundreds a week). Otherwise you can reload a hundred pistol cartridges pretty comfortably in an hour with a single stage press.

    I still use my single stage press for rifle rounds so you will never need to worry about "mothballing" a single stage press.
