Yes. They don't have it. Neither do bay area gun vault and kerley's.

I buy mine on line in the 8 lb jugs. Hazmat isn't so hard to take that way.

I live in the North Bay and I looked for VIHT N140 too but haven't been able to find it in stock. The Hornady 8th Edition references this powder as having the best results with their 68 grain BTHP and 75 grain BTHP bullets for the .223 cal, so, hopefully reloading shops will start stocking.

In case you're intersted, here are my local brick and mortar reloading resources:

Petaluma Gun and Reloading - no stock Vihtavouri. Offered to special order.

The Last Gun Shop, Napa - no stock Vihtavouri. Offered to special order.

Guns, Fishing, and Other Stuff, Vacaville - no stock N140. However, they may start stocking the N140 in the future because people have been asking; but none as of this writing. They stock other Vihtavouri powders.

I ended up using Varget. Haven't seen the results yet. Hopefully, I get some time to go shooting soon. Good luck!

Perhaps if you ask your favorite shop, they might special order some for you. But I just checked several on line vendors and they are all out of the 1 lb. bottles (probably waiting for VV to import more). Cheapest 8 lb jug is $172......

They don't even carry the brand and don't want to special order. Kerley has Vihtavuori but their distributor doesn't carry N140 so they don't sell it and can't order it.

Interesting. I know that no one seems to have the 1 lb bottles right now, perhaps that's why Kerley's supplier doesn't carry it. Sounds like your only option (if you are determined to get N140) is to order an 8 lb jug on line. I like N140, but I hear that Varget is a more than adequate substitute.

Yes, I have tried Varget and it's a very good powder (accuracy/consistency wise), too. But, Varget is dirtier than I like ...

Can't say I've used it in my 223 but i have used N140 in my 308. Its no cleaner and no more accurate than Varget or RL-15. I've had an unopened can sitting on the shelf for a year If you end up near LA.
