Plated rifle bullets?

So berry's sells some extremely cheap .30-30 plated bullets, but im hesitant to buy them. Anyone use plated bullets at rifle velocities before? i always figured plated bullets were a no-no for anything over 1500 fps or so. i try to get around 2400 fps with my 30-30 loads

I emailed them last week and still havent heard anything back. If they sell them they must be OK to use right?

I think x-treme also sells 150gr plated bullets for 30-30. I think max velocity is somewhere between 1900 and 2100 fps depending on which brand you get. I'm just going off memory here, but I am almost positive 2400 fps would be well over max.

I bought 500 of the 110g Extreme plated round nose .308 bullets as plinkers in my .308 over Unique. I think they are indended for M1 carbine loads. I safely shot them to 2200 fps with no plating separation or any other problems, but settled on about 1700 fps for POI's closest to my regular .308 loads.

I experimented with Hornady short jacket 100g bullets up to 3000+ fps with Rx7 and H335. They punched the cleanest holes I've ever made on paper at 100 yards, but they were all over the place. At $17/100 they were cheaper than 150g jacketed bullets, but more than double the price of the Extreme bullets which were $40/500.
