Combining powders

Found some older herco 2400 and now have some newer made by alliant. What are your guys thoughts? Can I safely combine them?

Nope. Will potentially change burn rate, pressure, etc. Work up a load and use the old stuff up, then redevelop your load with the newer powder.

Good. There are too many variables to make it safe to mix powders without careful testing. Since 2400 is usually used in magnum loads, some of those variables could make for an unpleasant experience.

I'll dig out an old manual and see if the loads have changed any over the years. Sometimes powder lots change, but most of the manuals are pretty conservative.
