    Dillon RF-100

I just picked up one of these puppies a couple of weeks ago, and I'm really digging it. I didn't necessarily have a problem with the pick-up tubes, but the RF-100 keeps things rolling along even better, since you don't have to pause to refill your pickup tubes. Dumping primers into the top of the machine takes all of 1.5 seconds, and the tube will be full by the time you run out of primers on the press. It's a little pricey as with all things Dillon, but as with all things Dillon, it's entirely worth it.

As an extra-added TV bonus, watching the primers line themselves up and drop into the tube is kinda like watching an ant farm.

BTW, I'm not a Dillon employee, just impressed with their products.

I bought a FrankFort Arsenal Vibra-Prime several years ago. To bad they do not sell them any more. Works great at the cost of $35.00 or so. I just stick my Dillon primer tubes in and pull on the trigger, 8- 10 seconds later tube is filled.

I love the RF-100. Is it needed? No, but boy it's nice.

Took me a couple tried to get the adjustments right when switching out small <-> large primers, but once I got it figured out it's a snap. I wouldn't even think about using a pickup tray and tubes, over the last 2 years the RF-100 has been a great tool on my bench.

Too spendy for me too, but I do like the idea though. The Frankford unit is nice but you do have to keep an eye on it the entire time....granted that's a lot shorter period of time than using the pickup tubes. I wonder why they stopped making them?? I wonder if one didn't go off in someones hands like the Lee priming units have in the past and scare the manufacturer off of making them anymore??

I used to think that too.
            Then I bought one.

The $35 Frankford Arsonel one that I tried is a joke compared to the Dillon.

As with all things Dillon, the primer machine is worth it, but you would not believe it until you had used it yourself.

pick up tubes are just fine. it's all about correctly placing the primer on the plate, and just flip it over. 5 minutes to fill a tube up, ain't so bad. just have a couple of them filled up, and wallah your good to go.

Plate, primers, facing the right direction??? Too complicated for my feeble mind

                        You obviously don't have a 1050.
In those "5 minutes", you could have loaded another 100 rounds.

With the primer tube filler, you simply set a tray of primers on it, poke the button and go back to loading.
Within a couple minutes, it's done.
When the primer alarm goes off on the 1050, you grab the tube off the primer machine, pull the clip to drop the primers, put the clip back on the tube, put the tube on the machine and drop another tray of primers on the machine, poke the start button and resume loading.
It took longer to type that than it does to actually DO it.

If you had to stop every hundred rounds for 5 minutes, you are loading HALF as many rounds per hour on a 1050.
                        That is significant.

Been trying to beat that filler with my 1050 and am hoping the bullet feeder will make it possible.

Trying to figure this thing out (and Dillon's site isn't any help). Does this mount to the primer tube on the press? Or does it just automatically fill up a tube that you then take over to the press and drop in like you would with pickup tubes?

I have 5 pickup tubes which by the time I've loaded through all of them I could use a break anyway.

You will be getting close with a bullet feeder, but I suspect you will not be able to beat the primer machine.
With a pistol cartridge setup with a bullet feeder, that's going to put you in the 1600-1800 rounds/hour range.

You won't be able to go that fast with 223 because you need to wait for powder to fall and for the cases to settle before you run the swage backup rod into the case mouth.
