    Lowering 650 Casefeeder

Well I finally went and lowered my casefeeder on my 650 cut off 8 3/8 inches
can reach in it now without a ladder also gives it a more compact look

    I like that...

I might have to do something similar when I get a case-feeder. I'm just hand-feeding at the moment because I'm still doing .223 and I am taking my time. My press is currently mounted to an old desk and it sits under a cabinet, so clearance will be an issue.

    Thanks for posting!

I like it! Thanks for the tip. I'm getting ready to move mine into a small utility room in the house and I'll have to lower it like this to fit with the strong mount.

What is total height of that unit? I am very intrigued because my 650 is mounted inside a cabinet with a finite amount of overhead space. I'm curious what you had to do to achieve the height reduction. Also, what about depth? I have a fairly limited amount of space, tight quarters don't you know.

          Thanks! Looks great BTW!!

All I did was remove the case feeder from the support tube measured down from the top of the tube 8 3/8 in and cut it off it still leaves enough of the tube above the bend to mount the case feeder back and then you need to shorten the clear tube make sure to cut the bottom of the tube not the top with the flair the same amount the new height is now 37 in tall from the bench

pic showing case feeder rite above bend in support tube

pic showing there still is good amount of room for cases in the tube

One bad thing about strong mounts is that its kicks everything way high.

                Nice idea!

Why didn't I think of that?

It would make it so much easier for us "short-uns" to reach the top in order to load the casefeeder.

The only thing I can think of that would be a negative, is that there is now a smaller amount of boolits in the tube, hence less weight on the bottom boolit to ensure 100% feeding...especially if there is some media that gets sneaked in.

Gotta meditate on this a bit more before taking the plunge.

                Thanks for the tip.

Why would Dillon make it that high if it wasn't needed? I guess one thing is it gets everything up and out of the way of working on the main reloader. Anyone talk to Dillon about it?

Actually I did talk to Dillon last year and the tech had no opinion one way or the other he did say others have asked about it . I will be running some 40's thru it later this morning to see if there are any issues

I think the height was a result of having the loader made before inventing the casefeeder. You needed a tube long enough to hold a bunch of cases, w/o the case feeder.

Man I'm thinking about a chop job now too. I'm 6'2" & still have to step on a stool to see where I'm spraying the lube into the case feeder.

                      Great Idea!

Good point there Bruceflinch it saves them from having 2 different sizes of tube and like you say a longer one is needed for those without a case feeder

Bruce, you lube directly into the casefeeder? Do you get good coverage that way?

Ok just cycled a bunch of 40's thru and no feed issues but had to make one slight change had to rotate low primer sensor on the up stroke it barely touches all in all it works great and its nice to be able to reach into the hopper without a ladder

I spray One-Shot on the pistol cases in the casefeeder. No problem.

Getting ready to do some .223 on the 650, but I think I will use the "baggy method" you or Vince mentioned in another thread. I tried that for the trimming process & it was so much better than the loading blocks!
