    IMR 4063...?

I'm trying to duplicate some loads my Dad did back in 1996. They shoot well and I've already sighted in my deer rifle for this load, thinking that I could easily follow the same recipe. The problem is that the powder he wrote down was IMR 4063.

I've tried to search online but the IMR website doesn't list it and the google searches I've tried only yield what could be typos, and one site that is in Spanish.

I'm thinking my Dad meant to write IMR 4064 and was off by one number but I can't be sure. I thought I'd ask...

Is there such a thing as IMR 4063...?

    No, there's no IMR4063.

    What cartridge are you loading?

      give IMR a call 7:00am to 5:30pm Central Monday-Thursday : 913-362-9455

looks like they dont make it anymore, but i bet they have one that would be real close to it. probably 4064. give them a call.

I just checked the Hodgdon website and it looks like the suggested starting grains is 49gr of IMR 4064 under a 165gr SPBT (could be a partition but I thought they were Spitzer type, not boat tails). My Dad usually likes to load light for .30-06 (as to not tear up the meat), so that makes sense.

He must be using some guidelines or load data from an older manual but it sounds like it's about right. He has a Lyman book that's older than I am...
