    Reloading supplies/Bay Area?

Hello all, this question has probably been asked a 1k times, but I'm looking at getting into reloading soon and have a few questions.

Where are the best places to get reloading supplies in the east bay?

Is it cheaper to go online and pay the hazmat fees or go to a brick and mortar store?

I'm willing to drive around the bay area ( Hayward, San Fran even Vacaville ) if I can get a good deal on primers, powder and bullets.

ps, I have my eye on getting the Lee 4 hole turret press, any feedback?

    Thanks in advance.

Antioch Armory is the only shop that I know of that actually sells reloading bullets. There may be more, however.

Reed's indoor range in san Jose has powder, bullets, and primers. Good selection of powder but not so much with bullets and primers. Prices are a little in the high side. Not much of any other reloading toils and equipment though.

Kerley's in cupertino has some small selection of reloading tools and equipment. A fair selection of powder. Some bullets and primers.

Bay area gun vault has some tools, some small selection of powder and primers but no bullets.

Online is your best bet. But if you are buying small quantity, I would just buy local.

J&R Guns in Livermore carries components.

If on the Pennisula, Tabors carries many components, I was there this morning picking up some One Shot, place was hopping.

Your best prices will be online. Powder Valley and Graf and Sons are my two go to suppliers online.

A Lee Classic Cast Turret is an excellent first press for handgun. If you are mainly planning rifle, I would suggest a single stage to start.

Best prices on Lee gear from Factory Sales here: https://factorysales.com/html/company.html

Pretty lame website, but the best prices and he always shipped everything I ordered.

You are far north, but the best prices IMO are at getbulletsandbrass.com in Gilroy. They set up shop at the gun shows. Give them a call and tell them what you want, and they'll take care of you, even for gun show pickup. Or not, they'll ship for you.

They are at the SJ gun show now if you feel like taking the drive, including with two display LEE presses, one of which is the 4 hole turret.

Dies, bullets, powder, everything. No hazmat, tax included in price. Good people too.

            -----

If you don;t feel like driving to SJ tomorrow, call them and ask if they are gonna be in SF for the next show. They'll have you covered, I guarantee.

There's been more and more powder and components at the SF Cow Palace show as of late. As mentioned, Tabors has some. Smithers too. Both are on El Camino (many miles in between, though).

Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

Petaluma Gun & Reloading Supply. Dont know too much about em, except they were friendly when I walked in to buy non-reloading stuff. I hear theyre a little overpriced but have good selection.

Ike, owner of (now closed) Bullets Bullets Bullets, used to do special orders for people after the store had closed. If he's still doing it, someone on here must know how to contact him.

Pistol, 45 ACP. I'm like 5 mins from USI, was just there last weekend!

                      They sell the supplies there?

                      Thanks for the tip.

Go to the cow palace gunshow this weekend. Should have some of the stuff you're looking for if you go on Saturday.

There is a gun show coming to Vallejo in October.

                            Reloading Supplies

When I went down to my local gun shop last month to buy a pound canister of Reloader 10X I paid $39.99 + tax running it up to over $40.00. If I buy 5 pounds the total is $199.95 + $16.50 tax for a total of $216.45.

That same pound of Reloader 10X costs $19.15 at Powder Valley, if I purchase 5 pounds it runs $95.75 I pay one $25.00 Haz-Mat fee for a total of $120.75 and a shipping charge. The shipping usually runs around $10 and may include a drop-shipping charge of a couple of bucks (some Internet retailers have powder and primer orders shipped directly from the manufacturer). Still we are talking about something no more than $140.75. Out of state vendors do not collect sales tax, but even if they did that would only add an additional $7.89 to the cost. Remember they usually allow you to mix powder brands and types in the same order with one Haz-Mat fee.

So Internet sales are cheaper by far.

Of course I ran out of Rl-10X in the middle of a run and I was leaving in two days for hunting, so $40.00 a pound was a necessity.
