Anybody with a Lee Load Master - improved primer feeder

We all know the Lee Load Masters primer feed system is one of it's big weak points, well apparently Lee has decided to do something about it.

I had sent an email to Lee about the fact that the primer sliders were being destroyed every 200 to 300 rounds I'd load and the response I got back was that they now have an improved primer feeder that reduces or eliminates this problem. The new ones are Red for Large Primers and Black for Small Primers.

You can call Lee to order it directly, or Titan Reloading has them listed on their website, here -

    Improved small primer feeder

    Improved large primer feeder

For less than $10 each, I figured they were definitely worth a try.

Now, if they could just do something about the case feeder allowing shells to tip over and fall off the press.

Thanks for the heads-up. I don't have a LoadMaster yet, but maybe I will soon.

I won't have the new primer feeders before Tuesday evening, but I'll post some pictures and a writeup of my experience with them once I get a chance to use them.

Thanks for the post. I would have bought several of those a few years ago...

I used to have 1 bad primer seat per 150-300 rounds. Sometimes it was a chewed up part, missing primer, or sideways primer. I bought a bunch of replacement parts because I thought that was just the way it is. One day, I broke the carrier (the mount for the priming arm snapped off). Lee sent me a new one. Since then, I barely have priming issues. I loaded ~1100 rounds of 9mm the other weekend without a single bad seat of a primer. It also indexes 100% reliably now. Im guessing the carrier was one tick off, or I just mastered the Lee Load Master. If I do have a priming issue, its due to rocking the press really hard while resizing.

My point is that it is possible for everything to flow smoothly on this press with factory parts.

        cheers

I came home for lunch and the package from Titan was here so I gave the new primer feeder a quick try. Loaded about 25 5.56 rounds and only had one bad primer, which was flipped upside down. That may have been caused when I attached the primer tray to the primer trough.

I'm going to try to load up a few hundred tonight and see how it goes. Gotta ream primer pockets first, though.

Thanks for the tip. I ordered a set. I was having trouble with 9mm. I was getting a problem about 10% of the time. Once you mangle anything with the primer feeder it's best to buy a new part rather than trying to get by.
