    Grendel, blc-2. Discuss

BLC-2 is the only powder that's listed in AA's grendel load PDF that I can be sure of being able to get hold of. None of the others seem to be normal stocking items at my local supply hut.

    I'm fixin'a use 107gn SMK's and 120gn Hot-Cor's and 100gn TTSX's as appropriate for the region/job.

Paying a buck apiece for 6.5 grendel brass isn't what I'm looking forward to but such is life. At least I'll be able to get several loadings out of the lapua brass.

So, discuss the powder choice, bullet selection ideas (I like light bullets), and any other tips that might be useful.

I loaded up 100 rounds of 123 SMK rounds using HP-c2 but the results were not what my rifle liked. There is very little difference between starting and max loads according to AA's load info.

I use a lot of BL-C(2) in a number of cartridges, it's effective and cheap.

Go to Hodgdon.com's data center they list a half a dozen (or more) different powders for the 6.5 Grendel using bullets from 85 grains up to 123 grains.

I found max listed load with accurate 2520 gave the best results with my factory made and JP Grendel rifles.

found brass for 64 cents a piece at AA's site. They've got a pretty awesome deal on 500 packs too (with free dies no less). Grabbed some for myself already, so FYI, good deal on brass.

I would love to have gotten 2520 but it's not something I can walk into the shop and get another jug of so I'm more or less stuck with the BL-c2.

I have been looking for 2520 as well but for now I can try some varget or h4895. I hope miwall has some different powders at the next gun show.

I've seen a very high number of advices against both varget and 4895 (both among my favorite powders and highly preferred) in grendel. If there wasn't so much blather on the intarwebz about those not being a good choice I'd be using those... have plenty of those.

From what I've seen in the data/manuals 4895 and varget don't give very impressive velocities for the pressures they generate. Seems like all the conventional wisdom is to stay with spherical/ball powders and to avoid the sticks.

WW-748 gave me the most accurate loads using 130gr accubonds.Got good long range accuracy with VV n-140 and 107 smk`s.
