    7.5X55 Swiss loads

So I am fairly new to this cartridge. So I am wondering what loads are your favorites. Currently I am using 168 gr. Amax with 45 grains of Varget. COAL of 2.928" I would also like to know what your COAL is as I understand they all are a bit different and I want to be certain I am in range.

I'm new at reloading Swiss 7.5x55 too. I've been reloading 110gr frangible bullets using 42.6gr of H335, CCI 200 2.990 OAL . I have to look for the data on the 168gr Sierra's i did a while back too. I remember that I have to seat the bullet much deeper because it wouldn't feed into the chamber.

I also just started loading for my K31. I rolled up 40 rounds of 175 gr SMK's using BL-(C)2 but haven't found the sweet spot yet. I still need to play around with the action screws with GP-11 to get it shooting the best it can before I really know what shoots the best out of my rifle. One thing to note was I did have a few rounds with heavier loads not completely burning all the powder using CCI #200 LRP. I'm debating on buying some magnum primers to test out but will probably just switch to a different powder.

Just curious what year your rifles were made?

          Here's my favorite:

          175gr. Berger VLD target
          45gr. IMR4350
          GP11 brass w/ Nynamit Nobel 5620 primer
Only problem is the Berger bullet is almost as much as GP11 surplus ammo but it works great.

I also do this load with surplus M118 .308 bullets, much more cost effective.

          For plinking:

150gr Hornady #3031 spire point (all the free ones I got for the kit and dies I bought)
          49gr IMR4350
          in GP11 brass as above.
          COL: 2.873

I've also used IMR4895 and 4060 but the 4350 seems to shoot much smoother, if that's even a valid description on how ammo shoots. I just like the feel of it better.

BTW, if any of you guys shoot GP11 and don't use the brass, I'll take it.

Read the tacked threads in the reloading forum at Swissrifles.com. Tons of information there.

My favorite load, and a very accurate one, is 44gr Reloader 15 with either a Sierra 175 SMK or a 178gr Hornady AMAX.

I use a comparator to measure to the ogive for my COL so my measurement is not relative to yours.

              BTW:
For my 168gr bullets I only use PRVI brass and for my 110gr frangible bullets I use GP11 brass converted to accept boxer primers.
