what's your thoughts on copper plated bullets

anyone have any issues with copper plated bullets? seems like a good compromise between price and cleanliness compared to bare lead and FMJ. Are there any fouling issues with plated bullets? what about terminal ballistics...do plated hollow points work as well as JHP's???

Most civilization is based on cowardice. It's so easy to civilize by teaching cowardice. You water down the standards which would lead to bravery. You restrain the will. You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.

I use nothing but Rainier plated in my 45, 380, 40, and some 10MM. I don't shoot them past 1,100 fps and only target. No issues with feeding or leading the chamber.

I use them for all of my target ammo for .45acp, 38/357, 40sw with great results. No lubing lead and cheaper than fmj.

I've used Ranier, Berrys & X-treme in .38, .357, 9mm & .45ACP. They work great for what they are. Target rounds.

I love me some plated bullets. They come nice and shiny from Berry's too.

To me plated are the ultimate compromise. Almost as soft as lead, but cleaner. Ideal for indoor shooting where lead inhalation may be a concern.

The only downside is you can not take them to jacketed velocities and they are expensive.

If you buy Montana Gold bullets by the case, they are usually cheaper than Berry's plated bullets and they are JACKETED. For example, case of 4000 9mm, 115gr FMJ is $298 including shipping. Berry's 9mm 115gr RN, $76.12 @ 1000 or 4000 @ $304.48 including shipping.

Precision Delta are the cheapest of all of them. They are also jacketed.

Are PD bullets good? I hear they have a long wait time before orders are filled.

I prefer lead. Never seen any benefit to plated.

Lead exposure while shooting indoors is mostly from primers not bullets. A proper load with a cast bullet should not lead significantly in a handgun. I'd rather scrub out lube and a little lead than copper fouling any day.

They are great. And although they're always out of stock on their site, the usually fill orders within a week. Sometimes if you call they'll have them in stock. They just don't bother to update their site.
