    BLC-2 the best for Ar-15

After reloading 5.56 with ram-TAC for 2 year I always had to clean my Ar-15 barrels for 25min, the gas tube use to always be dirty and my gas tube cleaners will come out black, and today I tested my new handloads using BLC-2 all I have to say it's the powder burns cleaner than TAC, cleaning time was cut down to 10min and when I clean the gas tube there was no residue of carbon, all I have to say about BLC-2 it's the best powder for any AR-15.

What do you mean by the best? Best as in cleaner burning?

Well, that settles it then. Thx. ;-) Yes, I find TAC a little on the dirtier side but I'm happy with it for many other factors.

I found that BLC2 needs a longer barrel, 20"+ to really get the velocities claimed in the Hodgdon load data.

55 grain FMJBT and that max load of 27.5 grain BLC2 yielded only 2800 fps in a 16" AR-15.

25.3 grains of H335 yielded 2900 fps in the same gun, with less muzzle blast.

For many years, Hodgdon has sold H-335 and BLC-2. They are actually the two powders used to load US Military ammunition. H-335 is Military WC844 and is used for loading 5.56 MM ammunition. BLC-2 is military WC846 and is used for loading 7.62MM NATO ammunition.

Both powders can be used by reloaders for both .308 Win. and .223 Rem. reloads.

I've used WC844 with H-335 loading data without having to tweak it. I've used it in .223 Rem.,.308 Win., 30/06, .260 Rem. and .358 Win.

Many hand loaders use surplus WC844 and WC846 since it costs a bit less than the commercially produced powders.

At 50,000 psi the gas tube is self cleaning.

                        Amen.

As for powders, for my 55's, H335 or W748 burns super clean. For my 69's and 77's, Varget is simply awesome!
