NRA reloading course & junk mail

I want to take a NRA reloading class. Enrolling requires me to give my address, phone, and email info. Has anyone taken any NRA class and later received unwanted junk mail?

I ask because I see a lot of people complain about junk mail. I am not an NRA member.

People that own guns and DO NOT belong to the NRA, because of junk mail, are incredibly short sighted. Junk mail and trash cans are MADE FOR EACH OTHER. Gun owners and the NRA are MADE FOR EACH OTHER. Join the NRA, enjoy their magazines or, don't complain when you lose your 2nd Amendment rights. California is on the verge of banning about 95% of all hunting ammo and lead bullets.

Generally you can attend NRA classes without providing a complete address.

If firearm ownership wasn't very important to me I'd tell the NRA to go fly a kite and never give them another dime. As a member I pay my yearly dues, round up my purchases at various vendors and have on occassion made additional donations and what do they do for me in return? Flood my mail box with crap!! They have 17 different sub-organizations that daily petition me for additional money and two weeks after I renew my membership they are hounding me to renew again.

NRA, instead of spending my hard earned money on trying to squeeze even more out of me, hows about you grease some wheels and actually get some of these communists and their stupid laws thrown out. It's very hard to swallow as a law abiding citizen that I send them cash I really don't have and still have to neuter my rifles and handguns.

Anyway I'd like to take their reloading class and since they already have me on their lists it won't matter to me. I've been teaching myself to reload for a couple months now, will I learn anything new?

NRA isn't perfect, but they are THE game in town when it comes to legislative action. They do a lot more than just send out junk mail. That being said, I'm a life member (have been for 20+ years) and they still send me junk mail. I wish I could opt out of that, but it is a small price to pay. It isn't like it is the only junk mail I receive (sometimes it seems that junk mail is the ONLY mail I receive!). I just make a stop at the recycle bin (between the mailbox and front door).

Where does the NRA have reloading classes?

It is not just the NRA - just about everyone sells their mailing lists, most likely even this site. Buy something from cabellas or most any other vendor and you are likely going to receive junk mail.

Did you read this before you pushed send? Really? Me me me. My, me, mine. Times are fiscally tough for many right now, imagine being a gun rights group. Not something that ranks very high in many American's shrinking budgets, but the NRA still needs funds to make things happen. So they must fund raise, by sending out requests for donations, little surveys asking for a few bucks, sweepstakes forms with neat little stickers of guns, a free pocketknife if you donate 50 bucks, etc. You donate if you can afford it or just happen to feel inclined to do so that day, or you toss it and go on with life. You think lawyers work cheap?

I've honestly received more junk mail from Geico in the last 6 months from getting an online rate quote than I have from the NRA in that time. Not a big deal, definitely not worth crying about.

"Grease some wheels"? How do you think that happens, asking nicely? Saying please and thank you? Are you even aware of how many draconian gun laws have been thwarted in this state thanks to the hard work and dollars coming from NRA and CRPA supporters?

It sounds like you need a serious wake up call.

While I have a life membership I did not give the NRA my new address due to the fact that they gave my address to every gun group known to man. I was getting pleas for money every two days. I give what I can. I teach with the 4H and donate supplies. Both of my mec reloaders have gone to them. Once a month I don't care. But every other day kiss my xxx.

And yes sequoia, I am a vet, have been a life member since 1979, and have donated over the years in excess of 100,000$. So kiss my *** when i say that I am tired of the crap from the nra.

Same here! I asked them not to send me anything and it stopped! Just ask them to stop. A friend at work did the same thing, and the mailings stopped.

rdmmdr, thank you for your service to our country, as well as your past support of the Nra. However...

This country, especially this state, needs all the help it can get. Especially pertaining to firearms legislation. The self centered masses like to frivolously put down the only organizations that support their interests, then whine and ***** and moan, wondering why they've lost rights, and why the NRA didn't do anything. Anyone else remember the fallout here, the daily uninformed questions regarding ab962? You don't sound like a particularly active or politically informed citizen. I dislike junk in my mailbox just as much as the next person. I guess I'm just better at throwing it away without a chip on my shoulder than others.

Btw, be sure not to support Vons, Albertsons, Vallarta, Walmart or any of the other people that stuff your mailbox with weekly uninvited junkmail. The only difference is they just want your money, they don't care about your rights.
