Russian Surplus 5.45x39 is it good?

I have a ARSENAL SGL31 5.45X39. I shoot Silver Bear ammo out of it. But I see that Aim Surplus has the russian Surplus at $129.95 for a case of 1080rds if you buy 2 Cases. Thats a real good price. I just hear a lot of bad things about corrosive ammo. Does any one here have a AK74 and shoots Russian surplus out of their weapons? I need info on this ammo and just what special pre-cautions I have to take if I shoot this stuff out of my Arsenal SGL31. What is your take on this ammo?

I have an SGL31 and shoot 7n6 surplus. It's smoky, stinky and fun to shoot.

When you are done shooting, go home, boil some hot water pour it through the receiver, down the brl, through the gas tube and over the internals (piston, bolt etc). Also be sure to get the front end around the sight post and the brake, including the threads. The hot water evaporates pretty quickly but you'll have to wipe her down to be sure. You can do two runs of hot water if you want. Then I use some CLP Break Free, wipe it down again and clean away excess residue, then spray again with CLP for storage. It honestly takes me 15 minutes to do this, I don't baby it.

Corrosive salts are your enemy and hot water is your friend, no need for ammonia or anything else, just simple hot water. Done.

I think when I got ammo for AIM it cost $40 in shipping, so you may want to check the ammo classifieds on calguns to see if anyone is selling some locally b/c I'm sure someone is.
