    Saving brass for my dad

so i'm saving my 5.56 (federal LC brass) for my dad who will be reloading it for his 223 rem bolt action rifle. will there be any problems with that plan provided he gets the tool to fix the primer pocket? i'm thinking he'll have to tumble it but other than that there won't be much difference right? (gonna give him a heads up on the thicker brass so he can work up a load that will work safely/well with that brass as i have read you have to use 1-2 grains less powder)

You are correct . Like you stated have him work up the load.

only thing coming from a auto to a bolt is you will need to full length size the case, after this if HE wants to reload them again he will only need to neck size them.

They will be fine. He will need remove the military crimp on the primer pocket then FL size them.
