    Brass processing service in Los Angeles?

    I get my once fired military brass at this place, good stuff, de-primed and the primer pocket is already processed/swaged - http://www.gibrass.com/brass.html

    Does anybody know of a place in the Los Angeles area, if there is one, where I can just drop off the brass for de-priming and primer pocket processing?

    Just wondering if there is such a place . . .

    Thanks!

    Ask a friend who has a reloading press to de-prime and re-prime the cartridges for you.

      You could buy your own setup for stainless steel tumbling media. It would be a lot up front, but it would pay itself off eventually.

      Just deprime the brass with a $10 Lee universal decapper in your press, then tumble them in the SS media. The primer pockets will come out sparkling, as well as everything else.

      Ronald Reagan once said that the most terrifying words in the English language are: "I'm from the government and I'm here to help".

          Not sure of anyone in LA which does it. I know there were some threads in here with such services though.

          I agree with SS media tumbling. You can get setup for about $225. Here is what the primer pocket looks like after tumbling.

          Left: Tumbled in corn cob
          Right: Tumbled in SS media

            A little bit of background may help . . .

            On a monthly basis, I process/load about 220 to 250 rounds since I do service rifle. I buy my brass from GI Brass since they sell de-primed and de-crimped military brass. That saves me time since that cuts a step in the process.

            The thing is that what if there is a good deal of once-fired military brass that I get locally. I actually saw a WTS advert here but I can't commit to it since that just adds extra time in the my monthly brass processing/loading. That's where I'm coming from, and it ain't just about the polished brass. ;-)

            So, that's the reason I made a post if you all know someone in the Los Angeles area that provides that professional service.

                  Second recommendation on Matt who does an excellent job. You can also reach him at sales@bulletheads.com. You guys should all use him and keep him employed so i can continue shooting.

                    Guys;

                    I don't understand if you are reloading why are you not playing with your own brass.

                      Because rifle brass prep is a major PITA, even with a Giraud trimmer and Dillon swager. It's worth the $30 for the saved time and aggravation. I hate reloading but it saves money.

                        Folks, really appreciate the feedback.

                        If this can be "stickied" that would be good so that folks know that there is a brass processing service!

                          As SuperSet posted;

                          I do have a Dillon Swager & a Girauld trimmer with several different conversions. I send out once fired LC brass, especially the 7.62 stuff as it is cheaper to pay someone than spend several hours doing the same thing. Time is money. Now when my grandkids get a little older I will go back to in house processing!

                            I'd rather spend my time actually reloading rather than prepping brass... Tedious, especially .223.

                              Fixed it..
                              Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

                              I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

                              Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.
