    Reloading worth it?

I just got a 30-06 rifle. I was considering reloading. Walmart has 30-06 federal for $16.24 out the door for 20 rounds. Is it cheaper to reload than this?

Second note, same for 223, i get them at $6 per 20, 30 cents a round. Would it be worth it to reload?

I can reload cheaper than that in both cases. Substantially so. And I can do it while producing much higher quality ammunition, with hunting quality bullets, not just FMJ's, since I patiently wait for good deals on components.

Thing is, I still wouldn't do it if I didn't enjoy the process of reloading. For some people the cost savings will never be worth it because they don't enjoy reloading. For others it would be fun if they were saving no money at all.

Which you won't by the way, for the first few thousand reloads, while you recoup the cost of your equipment. Some of us more, if they dosed on the Dillon Koolaid.

Reload because you want to make accurate, awesome ammo, and you enjoy it, and just incidentally might save money someday. Which you won't, because you'll just end up shooting more.

If you look at the bottomline at the end of each year you will not save anything. It will probably cost you more. However you will shoot more and get into another hobby in itself.

I find the idea of reloading fascinating. It's a whole new level of shooting that I am very excited to explore. I bought a Lees 50th kit and currently going to be shown the ropes by a calgunner who opened up him home for me to come and learn from him.

I'd love to save money shooting, but wondering if i should just reload on occation or do it for most of my rounds. hence my question.

Side note, does anyone know if this is enough for me to start with my lees 50th kit?

When I shot my pistol at the range, I bought by the box.
When I caught the BRD, I bought by the case.
Now that I shoot competitively...let's just say I had to buy a flammable materials cabinet.

You will not save any money, in fact you will probably spend more.
