Reloading 7.62x54r Q's Bullet Comparator?

So I slugged my mosin, decided to go with .311 (303) style SMK bullets. My reading was about .312 using my digital calipers.

I ordered the hornady OAL tool, and I was planning on making my own modified cases. However, I just started to realize that I cannot find a bullet comparator for 303? I need to measure the length of the round created using the Hornady tool using a comparator type device because we all know that measuring C.O.A.L on SMK bullets will give inaccurate seating depth readings due to variances in bullet tips...

So could I use a 308 bullet comparator instead?

I know I really should not be spending so much for mosin loading but I want to learn this stuff anyways, and for now it is my only bolt action rifle.

I know this is a zombie thread potentially but I am at the point where I want to hand load for my mosin as well and came to the same conclusions for .311 and even my .323 bullets for my M24/M48. I floated, pillar bed, bent the bolt, Timney triggered, Jmeck scope mounted my 1929 Hex and took a deer with it last week and get sub 1.5-2MOA on Priv factory loads but want to see what this thing can before i retire it as a project in the back of the safe....

Did you go .308 or just use the an old school method? I've yet to work up any loads for it (still a newbie with reloading). I'll do so more searching with Google i suppose.

I used .308 comparator on 7.62x54R. I figure since I am going to the same datum point on the bullet the result should be pretty consistent.
