Loading 45 Long Colt blanks

Ok so the research i have found so far...

Need blank brass.
Primers
Black powder
Crimping die (CH4D)

Now the issue I am having is locating the proper charges for the blanks.

It will be out of an old Vaquero for my Father in law.

Just seeing if maybe some Mounted shooters on here have more info?

For black powder, the rule is to fill the available space.

you can get the wax bullets and shotgun primers like the quickdraw guys use

Be sure he knows that after shooting black powder you need to clean right away , completely disassemble . Black powder will rust a gun very quick .

Ya father IN law is a regular Cowboy mounted shooter so he knows the drill for cleaning.

He has offered to go in halves on a new press so I can produce more ammo for him and I!

I shot fast draw for a few years using a modified Ruger Blackhawk. We just filled the case as full as we could then used a small "dot" sticker the same diameter as the case as a sort of wad. We then used fingernail polish to seal it up. We used black powder with a "kicker" of bullseye when we shot balloons.

Did ya know anyone who loaded their own and used a crimp?

I like the idea of the crimp die as I can set my press up to do everything on there.

THats the goal. So I can produce a lot of ammo quickly for him. My single stage takes waaaay too long as it is.
