    Redding Dies, one annoying thing.

My 223 dies do not fit back in the box they come with after replacing the lock rings with hornady style lockrings.

    Kind of annoying.

I really like my redding dies, but I'm tempted to just buy Hornaday etc next time around so i don't have to build or buy a custom box etc for them.

    I know the feeling.

My Redding and Forster (micrometer dies) do not fit back into the box after I tighten down the lock rings.

    Maybe this will work?

Yea maybe after i get some shelfs and lights for the bench first

For now I put the RCBS dies in the redding box and Redding dies in the RCBS box. Sure it makes things confusing but it works for now since I only reload 2 calibers.

Hell, one of my redding dies didn't fit in the box before setting the lock ring. I lost my allen wrench and spare decapping pin before I even got to lay my hands on it. I was almost convinced I got the wrong box, but I managed to wedge the die back in the box before I set the lock ring, damn box popped back open.

They fit in here if you turn 'em upside down.

I put all my Redding die sets into the empty RCBS boxes that Midway sells.

I guess I'm just not OCD enough. The die box goes in the trash and the dies go in a drawer marked for that cartridge. These aren't $1k pieces of precision tooling and the outside is not going to be damaged in a drawer.
You can even buy a die box that holds 12 dies (MTM 12-Die Storage Box Red $16.29), but I prefer my dies in drawers by cartridge, along with the shellplate, shell holder, and other cartridge-specific parts. Been that way for over 35 years. Only die ever damaged was one left on the bench and a cat got in the garage and pissed on it--it still works fine, but the outside is "rusted" in one area.

                One burning question....
Do the reloads from it have a "funny" odor?

I only have 2 drawers for my reloading stuff so that would become a mess fast, I put the hell holders etc in the box with the dies.. Don't throw em out send me to me! :P

OMG that happened to me too. A little off-topic but there was this stray tom cat that turned up in our neighborhood one day and my son, being the cat lover that he is, let the son of a ***** into my garage to eat. now this cat was built really odd and I swear he was only made to piss on everything he could. It was like he was one giant scent gland pissing all over the neighborhood while all the other cats just sat there and watched. It got so bad in my garage one weekend while I was away at drill that I decided to "relocate" him. I got him into the car and we drove him a couple of miles across town to a big natural park and let him go. I figured he would have a nice place to live and what not. Much to my dismay that old SOB showed up in the neighborhood a week later. It took us another week to catch him again but that time I took him way out into the country and dropped him off in an orchard. So far it's been 2 months and he hasn't made it back.
