I just ordered 9mm steel case 9mm for $189/1000 shipped. I thought that was a decent price. Anyone done better recently?

My cost on reloading 9mm for the last 2 years has been 7 cents for the Montana Gold Bullets, 2 cents for the primers (bought them before all hell broke loose) and 1 penny for powder. Brass is usually scored for free from friends or from picking it up at the range

Must be nice to have people just give you brass.Comment

It's factory. I don't think steel case is reloadable. I have seen videos on youtube of it being done.
At 0.19/round, it would be hard to do a whole lot better reloading. My primers cost me $40/1000, more in some cases. I think bullets were $80/1000. Then there is powder and time. I just want to shoot. What little time I have these days, I don't want to spend it reloading. My setup is a single stage. I was just curious if there are better deals. In the old days, a case of 500 WWB was $60 at the gun shows. Those days are gone..

I always see the great prices on non-brass ammo. Every range I have been to in the past several months checks ammo and won't allow it. For the life of me I don't know where its all being used."Don't make the same mistake twice or you might never get to them all."Comment

Steel cases are feasibly reloadable, as long as they're Boxer-primed. You won't get as many uses out of it, probably about half, but if another ammo rush occurs, you can still make your own ammo from it.
That price includes shipping? Then that's pretty good."San Francisco Liberal With A Gun"

Can not even imagine spending that much for steel case ammo.
Consider reloading?
For $308/3750, you can buy excellent Montant Gold real JACKETED 124gn JHP bullets. That is 8 cents a bullet. Powder is about a cent and primers are 3 cents? That is 12 cents a round. That is $120/1000 for GREAT ammunition that can be custom tailored to your gun. You can even load for less by learning about cast lead bullets.
Obviously, if shooting is your goal and you don't have "time" to reload, then you have made a wise choice--if the ammunition is accurate and non-corrosive. If the ammunition was brass-cased, you could resell the cases.Comment
