    1-12 Twist

O.K., I do plan on rebarralling the bad boy but it won't be till after the new year so for now (well after the 29th) I will be working with the stock barrel on my Remmy 700 SPS Varmint. I shoot 175s threw my Savage and will be shooting 155 Scenars if they preform the way I think they will. I also plan on using them in my Remmy.

My question is has anyone shot 175 smks threw the 1-12 of the remmy and what is the best performing bullet? I have a collection of 168s I was going to load for my M14 but I always thought they don't perform that well at 700 to 800 yards.

    Ok to 800

I shot 168 Nosler out to 800 in my 700PSS. I did good, but after that it's a crap shoot

Hmm. I probably won't get an opportunity to shoot much past 800 very often but I still like the idea of doing a load for that just because.

The .308 cartridge is not finnicky about twist rates. 1-10 or 1-12 works with fine with pretty much all of the major match bullets (150 to 180). Palma guns are usually 1-14 since 155s are what you are required to shoot and 1-14 is what they've found to be optimal for the 155s Palma bullet.

I think the rifling type is a bit more of a concern than twist rate (1-10 vs 1-12) when you're talking about the 150-180 range, but not much more.

But yes, lots of people shoot 175s through a 1-12 Remington barrel. It's fine.

175s in a 1-12 is fine - push them at around 2650 or a little above depending on your rifle to stay supersonic at 1K.
I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.
