500 rounds S&W .40 where?

I'm looking to make a purchase of 500 rounds of S&W .40. So far the sites I've been to do not offer free shipping so it makes buying online the same as buying locally. I'm just looking for range ammo. What sites offer deals?

Your not going to find anywhere that ships ammo for free as it is to heavy.

Try these places it will be cheaper to buy online usually as no tax and no gas to drive around trying to find the best deal.

Be aware that ammoman says it is free shipping but his pricing is usually higher than other places that charge 12-15.00 for shipping.

Two of the 250 rnd UMC packs at wal mart would run you about $75 each including tax, so this deal is a bit better.

Get a Dillon RL550 and start making your own. If you start out making 500 rounds, that Dillon press will pay for itself quickly. You'll save even more money when you decide to make premium self defense handloads. I've found that reloading allows you to shoot a whole lot more, and you don't need to worry about the cost of ammo.

Sometimes you can get excellent prices on bullets, primers and powder at local gunshows. The gunshows also help you avoid avoid Hazmat and shipping charges. Otherwise, one way or another . . . . those items cost money, and you'll be paying for them in higher priced products. Ammo will soon be too high priced to purchase. Your lawmakers will see to that.

That surplusammo.com link is great, but on one of their pages, it says no ammo sales to L.A. area.

With this in mind, though, I know that some here don't go for reloads at all, but I have good experiences with my friend's reloads in .40 S&W and 9mm. He has a CZ 75B.

I wanted to ask you all here, and I hope I'm not hijacking this thread, but how do you, those, who are cool with reloads, firing reloads of .40 S&W from a new CZ 75B? In 180 grain as well? What says you about this? Simply for target practice, of course, in FMJ. What says you?

I bought a bunch of 38, 357, and 44 BVAC right before AB962. It has worked fine for me and my friends. If you do a search in this forum for BVAC, you'll see that they are widely accepted as good quality ammo.

I've been hearing good things about BVAC from others, too. Thank you for that info as well, Bumpo.

Any knowledge on whether surplusammo will ship to the L.A. area? I plan to call tomorrow to see what's, since Cheaper Than Dirt has the same thing, but it's out of stock, and also more expensive to ship. Surplusammo has it with shipping to my area for 1 cent less per round. Not that $10 is such a big deal, but they have it in stock, it seems, but just not sure about their website, as it says no shipping to L.A. and don't know if this means L.A. City or L.A. County, where it also has a remark to the right of the list that no tracer ammo is allowed to be shipped, so again, not sure if this is a caveat and they only mean tracer ammo.

"free shipping" just means they've built the cost of shipping into their retail prices. Whether or not that's good for you probably depends on if you're closer or more distant than the average shipping distance they used to arrive at their retail pricing.

Exactly and ammoman is a prime example of that. If you shop around you can find better ammo deals by a pretty good margin even with paying for the shipping.
