Well I ventured over to the reloading world, especially after inheriting a Lyman T-Mag along with assorted dies and a Small Army worth of primers, powders, brass and bullets and finally live mixed factory and reloaded Ammo from my wifes grandfather
. Let’s just say my Chevy Colorado was rubbing its tires all the way home from Idaho.

Anyhow made my first batch of ammo, I was so anxious to shoot it today only slept literally 2 hours last night…
So off to the secret spot in the desert….
So my intentions today were to just actually see how these rounds fed and fired, from slow continuous shots to rapid dump time.
There were paper targets and assorted other targets but wasn’t really into seeing how accuracy or groups would be, that’s next time.
The Ammo
380 Auto – 40 rounds
Old shot once PMC Starfire brass with CCI SPP loaded with 3.6 grains of IMR 700-X topped off with 115 Grain Speer Gold Dot Hollow Points
9mm – 400 rounds
Mixed shot once brass with CCI SPP loaded with 3.9 grains of IMR 700-X topped off with 115 Grain Speer Gold Dot Hollow Points
45 ACP – 100 of A, 100 of B
(A) Mixed brass but mostly shot once PMC Starfire brass with LPP loaded with 6.0 grains of Unique and topped off with 200 grain Plated Hollow Points
(B) Mixed brass but mostly shot once PMC Starfire brass with LPP loaded with 4.9 grains of IMR 700-X and topped off with 185 grain Nosler Hollow Points
Test Guns and Results
380
Russian Makarov – Of course shot flawlessly with all 40 reloads not one hiccup or spit
9mm
Ruger P85 – P89 Well enough said… LOL.. Those two pistols can shoot everything fed thru it even a nuclear sub missile if it could chamber it… but with only 4 FTF out of 200 shot very impressed
45 ACP
LLAMA MAX 2 1911 – let me say this gun is brand new not even broken in yet…
Fed and fired both A&B perfectly with only 2 FTF from B group out of all 200 again impressed
After Action Report
I am very pleased with my first batch of Ammo. Especially mostly all Hollow Points it pays to HAVE ATTENTION TO DETAIL when reloading. There are a lot of steps in preparing the right stuff, especially with so many different load data and books. It’s like the Disneyland ride, wait forever but over in seconds when it happens.
So now its time to tackle the Rifle reloads.
Until Next Time
