SW460 Reloading Help

[Safra460]

I love to shoot my 460XVR but it is getting very costly to shoot more than 40 rounds each time.

Looking for someone who is reloading this caliber in the south bay area that is willing to reload and I will pay the cost of materials and some labor.
(Collected about 200-300 shells so far)

I am new to reloading and may even consider owning a reloader and if someone can show me the ropes.

I may be able to help out. I can work for 454 and 45LC brass and maybe a few primers (or maybe one set of carbide dies which you;d be able to take advantage of too), assuming you buy your 460 components of course.

Or even better if you'd like you can pick up your powder and primers and bullets and we can put some rounds together, uh, together. It wouldn't take more than a couple hours to do a hundred rounds if you pre-clean your brass. I also have dies for 44 and 357/38 if your other smiths are either of those calibers. I have some brass in these calibers I'll never use (I don't own a 357 or 44) that needs a good home too I'd especially love to trade for some colt or casull brass maybe some bullets good to over 1400fps, small quantities.

why not start loading .38sp and .357 mag first and then get comfortable

with the .460 your hands/life are at stake

it's not rocket science, it's a cartridge. The difference is like working on 120 volts vs 240 volts. Death is death, and once safety is taken care of everything is good to go regardless of size.

Although if it is seriously and truly a concern, the 460 cartridge can be loaded up with ANY bullet and trailboss powder and will shoot with less pressure, less power, and lighter recoil than a Ruger pressure 45 colt.

I'll agree that safety is safety, but I'd say there are two things at work in my comment:

1-How is someone who doesn't load going to evaluate if someone else is competent?
2-Some cartridges and firearms carry lower risk if there is a failure. The x-frame is pretty solid but that is also a very high pressure round at normal loads.

No one is putting you down, Whiterabbit and I see you just want to help but I have to agree with above posts. You don't want that kind of responsibility and the OP really should learn himself.
Have him learn and assemble himself. Any help you give him is a very nice jesture even if it means just using your gear.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I've been asked a couple times to reload for friends and I've refused. The liability is just too great and people are too eager to file a lawsuit the second anything bad happens to them.

Reloading is something one should do for themselves, unless they've got the correct FFL license and adequate liability insurance.

I would not shoot somebody elses reloads.

I would not give somebody else my reloads to shoot in their gun.

My reloads, my gun.... game on!

I would feel bad if somebody else's reloads blew up my gun.

I would feel even worse if mine blew up somebody else's gun. If they were injured or worse it would stay with me a long time.

We reloaded 57 rounds with H110 @ 46g using Barnes XPB bullets.
Shot 30 rounds the next day and everything went BANG!
