    Lube and Carbide Dies

On a recent thread someone asked about using a lube when using straight walled carbide pistol dies.

So many stated they used lube with their carbide dies, I decided to try it myself.

I bought some Hornaday One Shot lube at the gunshop the other day and tried it tonight loading a few hundred .45 ACP in my carbide pistol dies.

The only thing I can say is WOW. It makes the whole process effortless.

    Thanks guys.

I 100% agree. People said you don't need to lube them, but my buddy does and I tried it. WORLD of a difference. Smooth as butter.

Just throw the brass into a box and spray away. They need very little One Shot.

Should have included that little bit. I overdid the first batch. Still light compared to the way I lube my bottle neck rifle brass, but way more than I needed.

Just a very light coat, butter, for sure.

I still have a bottle of Dillon to use up before i switch over to One Shot. Shouldn't take too long to get rid of lol.

Hey Al, just lining up all the ducks. Got my Galco for the 1911 late last week...

Got outbid on a Hornaday progressive the other day, looks like I will be placing an order with BE next week.

Will be coming over soon to see you guys.

                lol.

But yeah, One Shot is pretty sweet. I've read some people argue that you still need to remove it after sizing, but they're probably the same people that don't lube brass when using a carbide die just because it says you don't need to. I haven't had any problems not removing it.

Got some One Shot & tried it on 9mm & .38SP. Smooth as buttah!

And yup. Doesn't take a lot. Smells like some parrafin chain lube I used to use on my motorcycle back in the day.

I'm thinking this stuff is really gonna shine on .357 Magnum brass.
