    hey guys,

i hope some of you can help me out. im looking for a low recoil target/range ammo and something to shoot at steel madness. i found these 2, which one will give me the lowest recoil, most accurate, and enough to shoot steel with?

    RWS 9mm 124gr

    9mm with recoil??

From my experience, seems like the heavier bullet actually has lightest recoil when loading powder puff loads....but that's out of my gun and a 40sw.

The USPSA guys seem to prefer the 147gr. by a wise margin.

For 9mm, I prefer Winchester Ranger RA9T 147 grain ammo. They are pretty accurate in my pistols. Winchester Winclean 115 grain ammo is not bad either.

Look up Atlanta Arms. The most accurate off the shelf 9mm ammo out there and very economically priced. It's the same stuff Team Glock uses. I've shot it and it's very accurate. The 147 has the lightest recoil in 9mm in my experience.

The 147s will yield the lowest recoil, however you will get the most rounds per $$$ with the 115's.

Given the same amount of powder, a 147gr bullet will yield more recoil than a 124gr bullet.

The advantage of a heavier bullet is you can get a gun to function with way less powder than a lighter bullet.

So to answer your question, you can load much lower recoil loads with 147gr bullets.

Most of the guys that shoot these mouse fart loads use 147gr bullet with an uber fast powder like BE or TG.

Here's some data that I took a few months ago. I was messing around with 147gr bullets and low recoil loads. All these loads listed below had no recoil at all (compared to normal 9mm recoil), and all functioned the gun fine.

Is it safe to say that since the winchesters I linked are subsonic that they will have very little recoil? Thanks for l the responses guys.

If you want low recoil..you can go a few ways...one way is to buy heavier recoil springs for your normal loads, this will reduce felt recoil and you'll still be able to shoot steel madness matches....second, buy lighter springs and load the lightest your slide/spring combo can take while locking on the last round, but notice that it might not be able to knock down some steel...its all a balance on how you want to play the game so decide on what you want to do.

                  Good luck.

They won't have as little recoil as loading your own, but yes, IMO they will have less than the other stuff. Just a guess though, as I don't shoot factory ammo.
