    .30-06 bullet diamter

What is the correct bullet diameter for .30-06? According to the Lyman manual, it says .309" diameter, but I cannot find bullets for sale in that diameter. Am I fine with just using .308" diameter bullets?

Lyman says size cast bullet to .309...but all the jacketed bullets are .308.
    mine are anyway...

        Jacketed bullets should be .308
        Cast bullets should be .309

Ah, didn't pay attention to the "cast" part. Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the clarification. I feel good now that I don't have to buy new bullets, had already bought 1000 jacketed 150gr .308 pointed soft points.

Now I'm debating between IMR 4064 and 4895.

BTW, what is a good bullet choice for the M1 Garand? I think I read somewhere that it should be a FMJ and pointed.

I've used 168gr Sierra Matchking hpbt. If your manual does not have any loads specifically for the Garand, stay close to the minimum charge so you do not do any damage to your Garand.

WWW.wideners.com has 150 gr. FMJ that is designed for the m1 Garand. They are not match grade but they shoot pretty well in my m1.
