    fireforming brass

guys, I'm experimenting with some 6.5swede and 7.7jap brass that I picked up from the range.

is there a max size difference in fireforming? if the donor brass is 20thou under at it's max case dia above the extractor groove, is that too much? What's a typical limit used in fire forming?
    thanks.

You won't be able to fireform the brass just ahead of the extractor groove.
It needs to basically match at that point.
The part you fireform is forward of the expansion ring and up to the shoulder.

think I get the idea. I was wondering if they can be made into 7.5swiss.

        I picked up 3 pieces of 7.7jap and 15 pieces of 6.5swede.
The 7.7jap sized easily to 7.5swiss neck and shoulder dimensions except for the said portion.

I'm currently using 284Win for 7.5swiss. Just thought maybe I could put them to good use. thanks guys.

          dw,

I just loaded and shot a bunch of 1x-fired(not mine) Swede 6.5mm brass at Chabot yesterday. I FL-sized and loaded (34gr Varget, 139gr Privi FMJBT) all brass the same, but separated the shot-group by head stamp (lapua, Norma, WIN, F.C, nny (privi partizan??), double or triple-curve line and marked Swedish??)

          Anyway, Lapua shots the best (5 shot/2" at 100yrd), follow by 2/3-curve line (5/3"), norma (5/3"). Win, F.C, and Privi are no good for my load ( 5-shot / 4"). I have a 1909 CG M96 w/ iron-sight.

Lapua is expensive, but is the way to reload/appreciate your fine Swede.
