    Hornady Shellplate question

Anyone know if the shellplate for the Hornady LnL progessive for .45 acp is the #1 or the #45 plate?

    Any Help greatly appreciated..... TIA

They now use the #45 plate for .45 acp. They used to use the #1 which I think is also for .308 and similar cases.

I also have the LnL. Owned it for a year now. Per the documents and ordering components it is indicated as the #45. I have the # 45 to load the 45 ACP. Hope this clears things up.

The #1 plate used to be the plate for the 45 ACP, but now Hornady has a dedicated plate for it, the #45. I have both and can find very little in terms of form/fit/function between using the #1 for 45 ACP or the #45. I've never tried to run a batch of 45 ACP with the #1 plate because any potential problems are not worth the 60 seconds it takes to swap plates, but if I didn't have the #45 plate and maybe if it were backordered, I might do it. Just be slow and careful.

Right on the money....Shell plate #1 can be used but the cases fit slightly loser than the #45 plate which is the 45 acp only plate.

The # 1 plate will not drop the rounds into your bullet hopper every time. Something like 1 out of 6 when I tried it. Called hornady, they told me what was wrong. ordered the shell plate and the problem was solved.
