Does anyone make a lock ring to replace the nut on the top of Dillon Trim Die? I would like to be able to move the motor from die to die with out losing settings. If no one makes one, is there a market for one?

Dillon sells them. But you would lose your setting since you would have to back off the nut to take off the trimmer. The shoulder is harder to set than the trim length. So I have two toolheads with the trimming dies locktited in place. -
What I am suggesting is a nut that has a set screw so I would not lose the setting.Visit my page at www.echoarms.com for casting, reloading, and firearms accessories.

How would you take the motor off since its a jam nut? A clamping nut would be better than a set screw so that the threads arent ruined.Comment

The same way I take dies out of my press without losing my settings. Brass or nylon tipped set screws should suffice.Visit my page at www.echoarms.com for casting, reloading, and firearms accessories.

they sell the hornady lock rings
Sure-Lock Lock Rings Lets you make precise adjustments of all standard 7/8"-14 dies and accessories. The lock rings clamp around the whole die. Can’t damage the threads. Applies constant pressure across the threads to hold the ring in place. Most other die rings lock by jamming a set screw directly into the threads. FeComment

The threading on the dillon trimmer is not compatible with a standard die lock ring so this is not a viable solution.Comment

The threads on the Dillon are not compatible with anything I could find including places like McMaster-Carr. Dillon recommended to me to not use a jam nut because it'll tilt the trimmer and your brass won't be cut even. I did get an extra one so I could leave one on each die like mentioned above. You can tighten the trimmer enough by hand to lock it in place without undue force, it won't come loose when starting."Everything I ever learned about leadership, I learned from a Chief Petty Officer." - John McCain
