What caliber are you reloading? If you use LEE carbide pistol dies then you do not have to lube. You can if you want, but straight wall pistol brass is as basic as you get, ( resize/depreime, prime, flare/drop powder, seat/crimp, crimp if using factory crimp die). I don't reload rifle so I will let the others chime on that. Everyone says to read a bunch of reloading manuals. I have not read a manual because all the manufactures have the same info on their web sites or in the instructions. I have nothing against manuals, and if somebody gave me one I probably would have read it. Having not read one and being a succesfull reloader with lots of help from Calguns, youtube and alot of different websites before I even started, I just don't see the absolute need to spend 30+ bucks on a book that usually is different than the other manuals. Do a search and see all the threads on people asking questions because one manual says this and another manual says that. It's funny how some people say to buy a certain manual and others say not to buy the same manual because it sucks and is full of the wrong info. Now I would never advise spending 15 minutes on the web and then start reloading, but you cannot convince me that multible books at 30+ dollars a piece will give me better info than the internet. Give me an example of something that all the manuals agree on and I will give you an example of a web based explanation of the same thing. The following post is a perfect example of what I am talking about

" Don't buy the Lee reloading book, its junk, just like most all of the stuff he sells. You get what you pay for, especially in dies and presses, especially in bullets. Buy the abc's of reloading and read it".

I bett that I can find a thread that sais how great the LEE manual is and one that does not reccomend the ABC's of reloading. Sorry for going off topic TAGACALI.

CALGUNS DICTIONARY "FLIER": when a shooter wants to turn a 1 inch group to a half inch group because he flinched.

Some of these posts are down right scary.

Some folks need to learn the craft or maybe relearn is a better term.

I bought a can of spray lube at a gun show and that stuff is awesome. Worth the couple bucks for sure.

Only other thing I can recommend is to be DAMN sure your brass is dry before putting the primer in it. The result otherwise will be random rounds with deactivated primers.

I clean before deprime/size as it also makes it easier to see any cracked necks and ditch those cases right off.
And I never crimp. Neck tension has been fine for me.

This is exactly why I bought a universal decapper. I don't gunk up my sizing die with dirty brass, and when I tumble the primer pockets are open.

If you can't tell the difference between a Lee and a Dillon, you can't tell the difference between Rossanne Barr and Megan Fox...and yes, there is a difference.
