Dented primers?

I set up my 550 yesterday and just started loading. I've loaded 15 rounds and have noticed that some of the primers are a little dented? Is this a big deal? Am I doing something wrong? (loading 9mm btw)

nothing wrong with the dented primers.. The reason that happens is debris getting in between the primer and primer seater ram....

yep clean the primer arm every 50 or so just before you put a new case in the holder with a toothbrush

Just be carefull if your using federal primers. A lil dent can make a big boom.

Thanks guys...i talked to brian enos (who i bought the press from) and he told me the same thing lol. I just used a little bit of can air in the area and it cleaned right up and no issues. Just got back from the range with my first test loads and had no issues at all.

Did you close your eys or flinch on the first trigger pull?

Sometimes, if you fail to get the primer in, some powder will reside in the primer feed cup. Just the small flakes of powder is enough to put a dent in a primer.

Just as you have done, keep it clean and all is well.

Nice to have reloaded and fired your own ammunition....I do believe that you are hooked now and there is no way out. With the smell of gunpowder....another one bites the dust!
