    lubing pistol casings?

I was on Brian Enos' Forum and he recommends lubing both rifle and pistol cases. I thought for pistol you don't have to.

How many people lube their pistol cases when reloading and do you run your finished rounds in a tumbler afterwards to clean off the lube?

Sometimes I do use some on the pistol cases. Either way I do them, when done I do put them in the tumbler for 20 mins or so.

I don't use case lube when loading handgun ammo with carbide dies.

You don't need to use lube, but it certainly makes sizing effortless. I have from time to time had a pile of lubed cases and grabbed one every 5th case or so. Made reloading super easy. Of course I only use one shot so I don't need to clean or tumble after loading. Just shoot 'em.

If you want to lube and want to enjoy the ease that comes with it, go right ahead, but it's not needed.

Clean brass, carbide dies, no lube. Has worked for me.

I didn't use to but I am a convert. One pump of spray lube per 300 cases makes sizing super easy.

I don't tumble afterwards because you can hardly tell there is any lube.

Same as Joelogic. A quick hit with One Shot makes the the Blue machine run alot smoother.

Like a lot of things, you don't have to but give it a try and you will see why a lot of people do.

I just started loading 9mm this week. I tried with a little lube and without. It definitely doesn;t need to be lubed, but it makes resizing and flaring a lot easier. Use One Shot and don't worry about cleaning the lube off.

Like Joelogic said, one little shot of spray lube on 3-500 cases makes it quick and effortless. There is so little lube it's not even noticable.

Never saw a need. Never had run into the "had to put all my weight on the handle to size my brass." Seems like something way beyond lube is the problem.
If you are shooting 9x19/9x21, the carbide insert is longer since it needs to handle the case taper. This means more case in friction contact with the carbide and I can see lube easing the effort. It's just that I have never noticed the effort.
The ONLY time you need to worry about removing the lube is with bottleneck cases being loaded in excess of 55,000 psi, particularly an overly long magnum case into the 65,000 region. Never have worried about it for .223, 7mm TCU, .30-30, or .30-06.
Then again, I have never even noticed the lube on the case and have never seen a shoulder dimple after 35+ years. At one time (pre-1920s), military lubed a lot of cases, particularly for automatics.

The only pistol cases I lube are 7.62x25 and 8mm Nambu (both bottle neck cases). However, I only run a Lee single stage press or the Lee classic turret press.

yep, until I run out of one shot, got it for rifle then got a stuck case, now I use it for my pistol loading, might get some again ....

                              Yes to lube.

                              No to tumbling after.
