    Where to buy shotgun slugs?

Anyone know where to buy shotgun slugs? I saw a video of shotgun reloading and was interested.

I've got a 12gauge Remington 870 (smoothbore) that I want to test with. But 'testing' with slugs at a $1 a piece is too much.

I'd like to see if I could get some of the 1oz Lee slugs, to see if they are worth getting the molds and lead melting stuff.

    Thanks!

I have a shotgun that may see about 25-50 rounds a year. Its usually done point blank at furniture, or something I want to put a big hole in. The point is, I dont use it for anything but a boom stick and a prop for pictures when we take the first timers out to the range. I almost never shoot birdshot out of it, but thats all I buy.

I use Walmart 1 1/8 ounce birdshot, a small ladle for lead, torch, a Lee 1oz slug mold and a lee buckshot mold (.31 I think... 9 will fit into a shell). I open the shells, pour out the shot into a metal bowl. I then scoop out a heap of lead, melt it with the torch and pour it into the molds.

When inserting the slugs, I collapse the shell inwards and push the slug in. The end result is one cheap slug made from birdshot. Dont expect incredible accuracy out of these things... I hurled a few across a canyon, about 150 yards, and I think they whistled

The Lee 1oz and 7/8oz slug moulds do work well. Even zinc will work for these moulds, given the spherical shape of the cavity.

Thanks! I've been reloading rifle and pistol for a while now, but been itching to get into reloading for my shotgun.

hah, i was just about to suggest this.

OP could also just buy a mold for slugs and pour his own.

Use the search engine and type in ganders cache or ganderscache. They sell slugs alone or slugs in kit form. Last time I checked they were the cheapest deal going. They also sell cast bullets at one of the cheapest prices I know of.

                    Good luck
